Research

The main focus of our research is to unveil interaction of viral infections with metabolic and redox pathways of host cells, to study input of these changes in viral replication and pathogenesis and to identify antiviral agents among inhibitors of metabolic enzymes as well as direct-acting antivirals.

Our lab focuses on hepatitis B, C and delta viruses (HBV, HCV, HDV), influenza virus (IV) and SARS-CoV-2. The infectious systems are maintained in close collaboration with a group of Dr. Birke Bartosch (INSERM U1052 and Lyon Cancer Research Center, Lyon, France) and Dr. Irina Fedyakina (Gamaleya institute of epidemiology and microbiology, Moscow, Russia).

We are utilizing a wide array of techniques including GC-MS for metabolomic analysis and Seahorse technology to assess cellular respiration and glycolysis.
